Home MenuCarolina Beach Lake Dredge and Stabilization
The Carolina Beach Lake Dredge and Stabilization project is underway! Contractors are using hydraulic dredging to fill geotextile tubes placed around the perimeter of the lake, which are then sodded, to create a stable and natural shoreline. All dredge spoils are to be utilized onsite. The goals of the project are a modest gain in stormwater capacity, improved aesthetic appearance, better water quality, and an overall healthier ecosystem. The project was designed by Highfill Infrastructure Engineering and construction is by Dragonfly Pond Works. Funding has been provided in part by a State Capital Infrastructure Grant. The project will be completed by early spring 2024.
Every attempt will be made to keep the park amenities open throughout the duration of the project. The majority of construction will be done on the water side of the path surrounding the lake, but there may be temporary detours set up around work areas as needed. Please use caution while enjoying the park.
Crews have set up safety fencing around the work area and established a primary laydown area on the west side of the lake near the South 4th St./Clarendon Ave. entrance.
