Parking Payment Methods

Payment for parking at all town-operated locations may be completed using a credit or debit card. See payment methods below:

Golf carts and low speed vehicles (LSVs) are only allowed to be driven on roads with a speed limit of 35 mph or less in Carolina Beach.

A permit is required to drive a golf cart in the Town of Carolina Beach. This permit also serves as a parking permit and may be used for parking wherever annual vehicle parking permits are valid. There are also parking spaces designated for golf cart parking.

Low speed vehicles (golf carts that have a state license plate and a state vehicle registration) are not required to obtain a permit to drive on the streets in Carolina Beach. Those without a parking permit must pay the hourly/daily rate to park in any regular or golf cart designated space.

 

 

ANNUAL PARKING PERMITS:
The Town of Carolina Beach provides public parking to our residents and visitors throughout the community. As a way to help manage the use and availability of public parking spaces, the town offers annual parking passes that can be purchased by  Carolina Beach residents, Kure Beach residents,  property/business owners  and golf cart/LSV owners in both towns.

Annual parking permits allow vehicles to park at no cost in the following Town operated parking lots and on-street locations:

 Parking permits are NOT VALID in the following Town operated lots/locations and require payment for parking from all patrons, including those with annual parking permits:

Annual parking permits do not allow for exceptions to parking regulations, and annual permit holders must adhere to time restrictions or other rules related to parking in town-owned spaces and lots.

Parking permits can be purchased at the Town Hall Billing window or online through the Permit Portal.   

Free parking is available in town operated handicap designated spaces for vehicles displaying a valid handicap license plate, placard, or hang tag. Payment is required by all when parking any vehicle  in spaces not designated for handicap. 

  

Below are some of the most common reasons parking citations are received:

• Failure to pay for parking 
• Expired parking
• Parking over the specified time limit
• Protrusion beyond designated parking space (must center vehicle in space or at curbstop)
• Parked facing opposing traffic/against the flow of traffic; in no case shall a vehicle remain backed to a curb against the flow of traffic when adjacent to a one-way drive aisle.
• Double parking
• Parking in a controlled residential parking area without a valid residential parking permit
• Vehicles parked so as to obstruct sidewalk, private driveway, crosswalk, or bike lanes
• Vehicles parked unattended in commercial and passenger loading zones
• Vehicles parked in front of or within five (5) feet in either direction of a private driveway or road.
• Vehicles other than buses parked in a bus stop or designated bust parking spaces
• Vehicles parked within twenty-five (25) feet of an intersection
• Oversize vehicles parked on town streets
• Vehicles parked on medians
• Vehicles parked in "No Parking Anytime" zone
• Parking for more than 24 hours at a time
• Parking unattached trailers in any Town parking facility

The citation amount charged for these and other parking violations is $60. Citations paid within 48 hours of issuance will be reduced by 25%..   

Citations that are unpaid after 30 days will have a $50 penalty added to the citation making the total due of $110.  An additional $50 penalty is added to the $110 if citation remains unpaid after 60 days making total due of $160.

Appeals to citations must be made within 7-days of citation issuance date.  During the appeal process, amount of citation will not increase. If appeal is denied, the normal rate increase schedule will occur.
